Located where the East and West Forks join to form the Greenbrier River, Durbin has been an important railroad and logging town since its founding. Although its rail access to the outside world was cut-off by the Flood of 1985, the town still maintains its rail heritage with its original C&O depot and the Durbin Rocket tourist train.
Heading east from the Durbin depot towards Frank, the Widney Park Rail-Trail follows the path of the former C&O Greenbrier Subdivision spur to Thornwood. The cache is within quick walking distance for those coming to see the train.
