Geocache Description:

The Clare Glens is a wooded area along the banks of the Clare river, which separates County Tipperary and County Limerick, Ireland. Very close to Newport, County Tipperary and about 5km from Murroe, Co. Limerick. It consists of a picturesque and clearly marked looped trail leading you along on each bank of the river. Terrain is along marked woodland paths which can become very muddy/slippery in wet weather.

There is ample Parking at N52°41.467 W008°23.997 with a picnic area public toilets and a swing-set.

There are two trails a Nature Loop (Green Arrows) which is approx 2km and The Clare Glens Loop (Purple Arrows) which is approx 4km.

The Cache N52°41.305' W008°23.534' is accessible from both loops but if you have the time I recommend the longer walk.

The loops starts from a metal swing gate at the left of a stone bridge over the Clare River. Turn left onto a narrow trail following the purple (and green) arrows – the green arrows are for the shorter Nature Loop. The loop gains ground away from the river and stays to ‘upper’ paths to pass a stone footbridge, before veering right and downhill to reach the riverbank at a wooden footbridge.
