The Ex-Shanklin 'Girls' (The Nickster (N), and Mum (H) of SPO and Mum), having been friends for 40 years (50 years in spring 2021!), placed some caches to celebrate.
Temperature Limited were manufacturers of air conditioning plant.
Their nearby factory was built in 1966 (an important year for H & N and their parents).
N always enjoyed looking out for the float entered by the company in the local carnivals, as they usually made an excellent effort.
H often saved the bus fare home from school by cadging a lift back with her father when he worked at Temperatures.
Sadly, closure of the factory was announced in December 1989, and at that time the site employed over 230 people.
It now has an alternative use as Spithead Industrial Park.
Parking, refreshments and loos are available at the nearby supermarket (which also has a petrol station) or pub, or on Lake Industrial Way - please consider nearby residents and do not try and park any closer than that to the cache site.
In order to claim the Nostalgia - Bonus cache (GC3HT2J) you need to find (nearly) all 13 of the other Nostalgia caches and make a note of the letters and numbers from their log books and/or cache containers.
If completing this series as a circular walk, we suggest the following caches next:
Clockwise; GC301RX Nostalgia - Lake Middle Go E alongside the main road past the supermarket, use the pelican crossing then turn N along public footpath SS24 signposted Borthwood or Lake Common.
Anti-clockwise; GC3H27P Nostalgia - Random Hyde Follow the obvious track to the south, straight over at the track crossroads with the green Landguard sign. Keep walking through the middle of the holiday park, on the footpath which turns SW to go past the swimming pool.
