The Ex-Shanklin 'Girls' (The Nickster (N), and Mum (H) of SPO and Mum), having been friends for 40 years (50 years in spring 2021!), placed some caches to celebrate.
N attended 1st Shanklin Brownies which was then based in St Georges Hall, Garfield Road nearby; and also was brought to play in the copse by nan Elsie (who always called it 'The Tip'), from Collingwood Road.
H's 18th birthday party was held in the scout hall nearby ('Say oops up side your head, say oops up side your head') - her only recollection of this party (that she will admit to!) is receiving a very unusual gift of a crab (an actual, edible one).
Cache is within the Sibden Hill & Batts Copse local nature reserve and has been placed with the kind permission of IOW Council.
It will be MUCH easier to get accurate directions to the co-ordinates if you approach from Collingwood Road.
In order to claim the Nostalgia - Bonus cache (GC3HT2J) you need to find (nearly) all 13 of the other Nostalgia caches and make a note of the letters and numbers from their log books and/or cache containers.
If completing this series as a circular walk, we suggest the following caches next:
Clockwise; GC3H27P Nostalgia - Random Hyde. Leave by the nearby gate into Collingwood Road, turn N along the lanes until you get to Hyde Road, then W (parallel with the old railway line) and then N along public footpath 92 signposted America Woods.
Anti-clockwise; GC32YE9 Nostalgia - Victoria Avenue. Head down through the copse and SE towards Garfield Road, then turn S along Albert Road to Victoria Avenue.
