The Ex-Shanklin 'Girls' (The Nickster (N), and Mum (H) of SPO and Mum), having been friends for 40 years (50 years in spring 2021!), placed some caches to celebrate.
No nostalgic memories associated with this site (that we can remember or will admit to!), just wanted to place a cache to create a nice circular walk, so this is a random 'Hyde' between Upper & Lower Hyde.
You're looking for a plastic screw-top tub in a camo bag.
Quite a busy path, so stealth is required.
In order to claim the Nostalgia - Bonus cache (GC3HT2J) you need to find (nearly) all 13 of the other Nostalgia caches and make a note of the letters and numbers from their log books and/or cache containers.
If completing this series as a circular walk, we suggest the following caches next:
Clockwise; GC3H22F Nostalgia - Temperatures. Go back towards the junction of the lanes then follow the track NE through the holiday park. Keep going N at the track crossroads with the Landguard sign.
Anti-clockwise - GC3H26D Nostalgia - Batts Copse. Go back towards the junction of the lanes, turn south and continue over the old railway line. Turn E along Hyde Road then you have a choice - either go S along the lane signposted public footpath 14 Shanklin, or (better) go further E along Hyde Road and take the next path south (SS83 signposted Collingwood Road & Batts Copse). Either of these paths will take you across Carter Avenue and towards the copse.
BIG congratulations to FairyandWightGeoboys on a triumphant return to caching by getting FTF despite the foul weather!
