Central Carmen

Vega Alta fue fundado en el 1775 por Francisco de los Olivos. Fue primeramente nombrado como "Vega" aunque más tarde se le conoce La Vega de Epinosa. Su cognomento "pueblo de los ñangotaos" deriva de la costumbre dede los jíbaros de ñangotarse en los bancos dela Plaza o en la estación local a esperar el tren. Antes pertenecía a un poblado conocido como "Las Vegas". Esta área se dividió en dos siendo el primero en fundarse (1775) la Vega Alta de Espinosa y un año después (1776), La Vega Baja del Naranjal.
