Guerrilla activity in Confederate towns such as Montevallo was one of the main reasons for "General Order # 11" which basically called for the burning of everything along the Kansas border in westcentral Missouri. From the very onset of the Civil War 3 years before, Montevallo had its share of killings, fightings and burnings which left many lost and homeless.
The above coordinates will take you to a monument telling about 3 such incidents: "The Battle of Montevallo", "The Battle of Horse Creek" and, "The Battle of Church in the Woods".
Such was the strife in this area during the Civil War.
The cache is located approximately 145 feet north of the monument.
