On my way to some hickory ridge trails I spied this neat little pulloff that I was originally just going to make a simple P&G at the pond since we all love pond hides. Decided in the end to take a little stroll and check the area out. Pretty nice views that may get obstructed whenever a full canopy of foliage gets it's thing on.....
Anyway, enjoy a nice stroll thru the Hoosier National Forest to an ammo can (sorry that it's a re-constituted can from a now defunct cache that I forgot to re-stock so it's fairly slim pickins right now). If you stay close to the pond you should be able to see a slight "trail" out toward the ridge. Gets a little better the further out you go. Should be an easy smiley for whoever makes their way out here in the stinkin middle of NOWHERE.
CAUTION!!! I wouldn't recommend trying this area in a low to the ground vehicle such as a car or whatever as you'll be having to cross a couple areas that are known to flood. There are even two bridges in this area...well, if you want to call them bridges. They just poured some concrete across creeks and smoothed them out to utilize as drive across areas. They usually have water across them but do NOT try to cross if you're in a low vehicle unless you check the depth first. I did see someone in a nice car with IU license plates messing around the area today which I can't really see why they would be out here. They had to make a creek crossing that was a good 6-8" deep due to the recent rains.....they made it but still....you've been warned, these are gravel roads and are narrow and other things that go along with that type of area.
Should go without mention but I will anyway...during the season, WEAR HUNTER ORANGE!!!!
