Geocache Description:

The Coastal and Water Issues Committee of the Ecology Action Centre would like to welcome you to our third annual CITO event. This year's event is the Saturday before Mother's Day, so we thought we would help Mother Nature by unclogging one of her arteries. We will be assisting the Sackville River Association to clean up a 1 km section of the Little Sackville River.

This one is going to be a bit different from most CITOs because there is a chance you might get wet. That's right folks we're going in the water. Not everyone will want to do this obviously, but there will be the chance if you wish to hike up your hip-waders and go strolling up the stream. There is a decent section of roadside and forest that is pretty well littered also so the event will include child friendly pickup spots.

Our rally point will be in a small park just off of Alder Cresent. Parking is available on the street or there is alternate parking at the other end of the trail on the corner of Beaverbank Rd. and Glendale Dr. Meet there at 10:00 AM. Garbage bags and rubber gloves will be provided by Clean Nova Scotia, but we suggest that you bring a pair of heavy duty work gloves, or shoulder length rubber gloves, because there are larger items that you may wish to move, and some of them are under water. Snacks and beverages will be available at the rally point, and bring your own water bottle, we will have a fill up station on site. Prizes will also be awarded for various waste management skills at 1:15 PM at a local eating estaBlishment that serves Pizza.

If you are planning a reduced emission trip to the event, there are 3 buses that can bring you within a 5 minute walk of the rallying point location; the 84 (Glendale), 85 (Downsview) and 87 (Downsview). We hope to see many of you out for this event, even if you are not a geocacher, if you would like we will have people explaining geocaching to any muggles that decide to tag along. Don't forget the "Cache In" part of CITO as there are many great caches in the general area.
