Welcome to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery. This cemetery has two parts, both north and south of the road. The north side seems to be the older part, with the south side still in use.
The part on the south side of the road also has some unusual indigenous plants, so be a little careful there. These are all over the place near the cache, in the sandy dune that was once a shoreline of Lake Erie. Guess there really ARE cacti in Michigan! Who would have thought!
Actually, prickly pear cactus IS a native plant to the Oak Openings Region of NW Ohio and SE Michigan, especially in the old Lake Erie shoreline sand dunes such as is found here.
Have FUN!
The SQ in the cache name above signifies Spirit Quest, a project by the Northwest Ohio Geocachers to distinguish those caches that are set in cemeteries or memorial gardens. This cache is part of that series created by NWOGEO members to highlight cemeteries in the area. Please be respectful of the area, and observe their rules and posted hours, which in this case are dawn to dusk.
Congrats to IdaLabs for the FTF!
