Geocache Description:

Not sure who Caroline is but she has a road named after her. This should be an easy find on the Michigan side of Lake George. This is actually near the Kope Kon Sanctuary.

The Kope Kon Sanctuary includes 56 Acres in Branch County near the banks of Lake George. The area is a stately wood where oak trees stand as straight and tall as 10-story buildings. Here you can observe trees in their natural state competing for scarce light by reaching straight up for the sunlight. However, beneath the oaks you will see flowering dogwood blooms in the spring and beneath the blooms are rare plants, wildflowers, and shrubs.

There are over 50 acres protected here thanks to the foresight of Adaline Kershaw. Mrs. Kershaw’s family bought the farmland and adjacent woods in 1905. When the subdivision was built, they deliberately set the woods aside as a natural area that they continued to protect from grazing and development. In 1979, it was donated to MNA for permanent guardianship. Because the woods have been protected for all these years, they are filled with ferns and flowers for you and future generations to enjoy.
