A nano cache at the University of Auckland. Beware of a high muggle presence in the area, especially student muggles who frequent the area during the semesters and those who work in and can peer from the offices above. While this may be easier to grab in the morning or evenings, please be careful of security muggles who frequent the area. Please carefully replace the cache as found. The 2.0 difficulty is due to the potential high muggle factor in the area.
In 1872 Edward Mahoney designed an auditorium (seating 1000) for the Auckland Choral Society. It replaced two earlier halls on the site that had burnt down and served as a town hall as well as a concert chamber. Bought by the University in 1911 wings were added to the original building and the auditorium subdivided for use by Science departments. A Greek revival portico added in 1877 has been removed explaining the nature of the Symonds street entrance. The building continues to be used for teaching, although modified as educational demands have changed. The original hall has been subdivided into separate lecture theatres, while a mail room was added to the rear in 1982-1983.
