Our first WheriGo. It should take you about an hour and a half to complete this cache. Depending on which trails you choose, you should walk around 4 km. It can be done in a little less if you get lucky and really know the trails.
In order to complete this cache, you will need to download the cartridge from wherigo.com.
At time of writing, there are 7 other caches in the forest, and this WheriGo will take you very close to all of them.
Some pointers:
-
We would STRONGLY recommend using a gps with your tracks on and Ontario Trail Maps installed. It is easy to get turned around in the forest, even when you know the area.
-
Other than for the final, there is no bushwacking required. While it may be tempting, following the arrow directly to the next location is never your best bet.
-
Good rubber boots are a must at almost any time of year (unless everything is frozen).
-
Bug spray will definitely make this a more enjoyable walk during bug season. You might even consider a bug jacket/mosquito net. Seriously! About a quarter of the mosquitoes in Southern Ontario call this place home! Great for little frogs, not so good for people.
- This cartridge has been tested on a Garmin Oregon 450 and an iPhone, and runs on both. During last test the Garmin displayed some strange characters instead of apostrophes. While the English teacher in Ms. KBK does not like this, it does not impair function.
Please help me find my lost frog! :-)
