Another grey nano
This is a circular walk, taking you from the village of Upper Cumberworth, down into the valley, through ‘Top o th Close Wood’ along and into ‘Brogg Wood’, back up to Cumberworth Lane (close to Lower Cumberworth) and back along the road into Upper Cumberworth.
The distance is around 2 to 2.25 miles. When placed it was extremely muddy and very slippery in places. You will also need to be cautious on Cumberworth Lane due the narrow road and footpaths.
For me this area has one of the most stunning vistas, especially at sunset time, when the sun dips away and leaves the hills in the distance in their purplish pastel shades, not only in Kirklees, but possibly the world. It’s easy to understand why the houses overlooking this have huge picture windows.
Also walking round you will come across interesting woodland and other scenery as you get to take in full panorama along the way, there are also some quite splendid houses around here.
The theme of the caches is variety. We have come across many different types of caches over the years, some we love, others we loathe. That is exactly what you get here, a variety (to a point) some appropriate, others not – but hey its personal preference. All are fairly easy to find.
