Geocache Description:

Hello

This Cache was originally part of the 2012 Wicomico Geocache Dash

Hello

According to the Allen Historical Society, the Allen Mill Pond is the result of a dam at the head waters of Passerdyke Creek. Spanning the pond and connecting Wicomico and Somerset counties, the Adams Brother's Grist Mill was bought by the brothers in 1763, and operated by Adams descendants until 1844. It was then operated by various owners until 1919 when a storm washed out the milldam and the county decided to widen the bridge. The old mill was razed at that time. The original mill stones are now located on the Somerset side of the pond. Although the stones and cache are located in Somerset county, the site was included in the 2012 Wicomico Geocache Dash to show visitors the location of the Mill and nearby Wicomico County Allen Park.
