Geocache Description:

Cache #22 inspired by a list of 100 must-read novels I discovered a couple of years ago. It is not necessary to have read the book to find the cache. There is something about the location that makes me think of the novel.

The nearby sign brought to mind a childhood favorite that made the list: Anna Sewell's "Black Beauty" has delighted adults and children alike since it was written in 1877. It was not written as a children's book, but rather simply to encourage kindness to horses. It broke new ground in that it was written in the first person through the eyes of "Blackie". The author, herself, was crippled following a childhood accident and spent most of her life relying on horses to get around. Anna was bedridden when she wrote "Black Beauty" and died of tuberculosis just 5 months after publication of her only book, which, according to Wikipedia, is the 6th best-selling book in the English language.

".... there is no religion without love, and people may talk as much as they like about their religion, but if it does not teach them to be good and kind to man and beast, it is all a sham...." Chapter 13

BYOP. Easy park and grab, but you'll have to cross a ditch.

Congrats to Lady Orca & Charlie 2 on another FTF!
