Geocache Description:

***** NOTE: This cache is NOT located at the base of the tree. *****

Mighty Oaks from little acorns grow. That’s a saying many of us grew up hearing.

Here’s a true story…and a vivid example of that. In the mid 1600s, a tiny acorn sprouted through the soil to become what you see standing before you today.

To give you some reference, about the time this tree sprouted, the first British and French settlements were beginning to pop up in North America. The building blocks of the Taj Mahal were being laid. The Irish rebellion was in full swing. The Thirty Years’ War was winding down. Indiana was populated by Native Americans.

And, from then ‘til now, through the birth of a nation, 2 World Wars, the first automobile, a man on the moon….and to the birth of Geocaching….this mighty oak tree continued to grow.

This is truly an amazing sight. Many folks from Central Indiana don’t even know it exists. The first time I saw it….I was in awe. I think you will be also.

You are looking for a large screw top container with a log book, writing utensil, and some trade items. Take a few moments and enjoy the surroundings. We hope you’ll post some photos of this amazing piece of history to the cache page.
