This cache has been archived.

chaosmanor: And now that the last known attendee has logged this event, we can put it to bed. One last time, many thanks to everyone who attended! As of today, the official count of total attendance is 15,480 people, who attended 312 Events in 31 Countries [8D] It's nice to be a small part of that.

The next Flash Mob event is scheduled for May 4, 2013: stay tuned!

Geocache Description:

TIME
: 11:00am to 11:15am
LOCATION
: The Rose Garden in Constitution Park, at the City Hall of Camarillo

Flash mobs are mini-happenings: a group of people suddenly appears in public, performs some brief action, then disperses. The concept was developed in a series of short stories by science fiction author Larry Niven, who called it a "flash crowd". The term "flash mob" is over one hundred years old, but it was first used in its current meaning in 2003, when over 100 people suddenly appeared in the home furnishings department of Macy's in Manhattan and gathered around an expensive rug.

In geocaching, the WWFM is a mini-event. Gather at the appointed time, sign the log sheet, chat for a bit, in this case enjoy the many different roses in the garden, then disperse for local caching or whatever. We figured that it was time for another one in Ventura County, as the last one we could remember was several years ago, at Tarantula Hill in T.O. There should be a few newish caches in town, and it will be a good chance to go after some of the many puzzle caches that you've all been avoiding There will also be a RAFFLE of one WWFM9 geocoin and one WWFM9 geotag. The logo above is the design of the geocoin; the geotag is similar, but not as complex.

Best off-ramp is Carmen; there is lots of parking on Paseo Camarillo in the City Hall lot; City Hall is closed on Saturdays, so they were happy to give us permission for this. There is a concert in the park on Saturday night, but we shouldn't be in the way of anyone setting up for it. Please do not use the church lot due west if anything is going on there.

And here's a photo of the whole motley mob Thanks to everyone who came!
