A small container secreted away along the southernmost section of The GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail, one of Greenville County’s genuine treasures!

As of April, 2013, over 100 active Geocaches are located within approximately two-tenths of a mile from the GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail, and more are being hidden every day. Several other caches that were previously placed along the SRT have been archived.

Check out the “Swamp Rabbit Trail” Bookmark List for a handy reference to the various caches along the SRT. The Bookmark List will be updated as new caches appear!

“The cache you are looking for is part of the Discovering Fountain Inn by GPS series. Please keep a special note as to the location of the Cache’s, the city is in the process of developing a coin for completing the entire hunt. The sheets will be at the Fountain Inn Chamber of Commerce for you to fill out and turn in for the coin. (Sheets should be available starting July 2013). A lot of these caches are placed in historical spots in the city, so take the time to intake a little history.”

Greenville Hospital System Swamp Rabbit Trail is a 17.5 mile multi-use trail system that runs along the Reedy River connecting Travelers Rest with the City of Greenville. The Swamp Rabbit will continue to grow throughout the county offering free, safe and fun recreation and transportation opportunities wherever it goes.

Diecisiete millas de senderos para caminata y ciclismo al lado del río Reedy, uniendo a la ciudad de Greenville con Travelers Rest.

Open: North Greenville Hospital (Hwy 276 @ Grandview Cemetery) to Greenville Tech’s Barton Campus (Cleveland St. 7 Faris Rd.) is 13.5 miles of paved asphalt trail. ReWa Administrative Office (Near Mauldin Rd. & Parkins Mill Rd under I-85) into Lake Conestee Nature Park is about 4 miles of paved asphalt trail with a short “On-Street Connection” section and a crushed stonedust section. Also open is a half-mile section located in the city of Fountain Inn, terminating at the Greenville County line. The Fountain Inn section of trail is a half-mile paved multipurpose path that stretches from Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Mount Zion Drive and Duckett Street to Hellams Street. The trail runs along a scenic pond and adjacent to the site of the old Rosenwald school house. A historic marker has been dedicated to preserve the old school and teacherage sites that were built in 1929 and 1930. Enjoy!

Mile Markers: Mile markers are installed at 1/2 mile intervals thanks to the hard work of volunteers from Johnson Controls. The first marker on the northern end starts with the number 23. Eventually mile 0 will be at the NC state line much like an interstate system.

All greenways are closed to any form of motor vehicles.

Trail Etiquette:

• Please remember the rules of the road and trail.
• Trail users must stop at all road crossings.
• Stay right except to pass.
