This cache is #3 in my Pitt Head loop track series. Very easy walk, great for all.
This is a walk into the history of Maori occupation in the Abel Tasman N.P.
You can either start from Te Pukatea campsite or from Anchorage Campsite. These were both villages or pā at one point Anchorage the much bigger of the two. When you walk this track you are walking in the old trenches.. and over a very large one (hint) this is more visible in spots. This track was once fortified to the sea and at the end was a perfect view point for Maori to watch the horizon for incoming visitors, they would then run down the line to report to the village the arrival of either friends or foes. You may need to use your imagination to see these Pitts now as they are heavily overgrown, but I'm sure when you get here you will see why they used this location. This is a very special place so please treat it with respect and be careful not to attract attention to yourself as we do not want muggles walking out the last bit.
If you see a kayaker waving at you from below, that is me! I guide sea kayak tours here so come say hi.
This is a medium size container with a log and a pen, there is room for items and I visit this place a lot so will add a few every now and then.
I hope you enjoy this walk and check out my other caches along the way.
