Geocache Description:

The Cowichan Valley Trail will take you from Duncan through Lake Cowichan and down past the Kinsol Trestle following former CN and E&N railway lines. With many access points and 8 trestles, it's a beautiful trail to walk, jog or bike. From the Island Spirit Team, we hope you enjoy your time in the Cowichan Valley.

All the Island Spirit Legacy Caches are within a 2 steps of the trail, unless otherwise noted. There is no need to bushwack or trample the vegetation.

Orange Honeysuckle

Plants have evolved many different tactics in which to get sunlight over other plants. One of these tactics is the climbing vine. In BC there are only a small number of true climbing vines and one of these is the Orange Honeysuckle. And by climbing, this vine can climb up trees to heights of over 20 feet. The Orange Honeysuckle sports bright green elliptical leaves along it’s stem, which is grayish on colour. Around each orange flower cluster however is a pair of joined leaves that form a saucer shape. The flower blooms themselves can contain anywhere from one bloom to over 25. If you want to attract hummingbirds to your garden, the Orange Honeysuckle is a great choice.
