Duckworth Lewis Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Balayang: I am regretfully archiving this cache since unfortunately there has been no action to restore it, or any communication from the cache owner, moldest, requesting additional time.

An ample opportunity has been provided for the Cache Owner to respond, but since this opportunity has been ignored, I can only conclude that the cache has been abandoned.

Caches archived under these circumstances are unable to be Unarchived, and this location is now available for the placement of a new cache, by somebody else.

Geocache Description:

Cache is NOT at listed coordinates

One Saturday morning the phone rings. It’s a call up to fill in for the Riverton-Rostrata Rats! What a wonderful way to spend a summer’s afternoon (when you’re not caching ;) ).

The captains toss the coin, and the Ratters are to bat first. The team posts a reasonable score of 5/189 off your 50 overs. It’s now up to the Willetton Crows to chase down that runs and snatch victory from the Rats! They trickle along, and at the end of the 17th over they are 2/43. The captain throws you the ball, it’s your time to shine!

Your first ball is reasonable- a good line and length. The batsman defends it, and no runs are scored. Your second ball is not so good. It bounces violently, and as he attempts to duck it crashes into the batsman’s helmet, ricocheting off and over the wicket-keeper for four runs! The umpire signals leg-byes. Your third ball is much better, but the batsman seems to like it too, because he winds up and crunches it for a massive six! (It lands not far from GZ!) You’re getting a little angry, so you bowl the next with all your might. It feels like you’ve bowled it 100mph. The batsman is startled by this new found aggression and misses the ball completely, and his stumps are sent flying. Your first wicket!

While awaiting the next batsman, out of nowhere the heavens open and it starts pouring cats and dogs. A short while later it stops just as suddenly. The sun comes out and the captains agree to continue the match, with a loss of 18 overs in the second innings.

You finish your over, conceding only one more run when the batsmen dashed through for a quick single off the last ball. Quite a successful over, but the captain decides to give the bowling duties back to one of his guns for the moment. The score board ticks over, and Willetton stay within reach of victory, losing only one more wicket. The final over rolls around, and the captain tosses you the cherry! Not too much pressure, but the Crows only need 6 runs for victory. Your first 4 balls are corkers; pitched right on their toes, the batsman struggles to keep them out but manages no runs. The next ball, the batsman dances down the wicket, desperate for runs, and slashes wildly at the ball and edges it…but it flies through the slips and runs away to the boundary for four! It’s the last ball and they need two runs for victory. You run in and bowl the ball, the batsmen hammers the ball and sets off for the winning runs, but it is brilliantly fielded and the batsman is runout!

Victory for the Rats!
