This is a small cache hidden on a kaimai track in a place that is great for a lunch stop on a fine day. Great views and soft grass.
This cache is on the Hot springs loop track which starts and finishes at the end of Hot Springs road. This track has many great features including old and young Kauri stands, magnificent views, (especially from the top of Mt Baldy, just a short walk off the main track from the DOC hut. Te Rere a Tukahia.) a DOC hut in case you need shelter or want to stay out over night, a great walk, wildlife and birdlife a plenty.
Cache is one of our usual containers, camoflaged and hidden at waist height (approx) in a handy nook of a tree right next to the track.
Please be very careful re-placing the cache as it could easily go right through and get lost in all the undergrowth.
This is one of my favourite spots to stop and have lunch, morning tea or just a rest, especially when the weather is good but also when it's wet because there is good rain and wind shelter close at hand.
The cache is only a few feet from the track, on your left if you're heading up hill and just about to exit the clearing.
Be careful of the barbed wire in the low grass around the tree bases.
You don't need to go too far into the bush, at all!
