Geocache Description:

One for the walkers in the Mt Joyce escape recreation park - Wyaralong dam.

Note that Gates are open between 6:00am and 6:00pm

Park at the coordinates given below (about 1 hour drive south of Brisbane). The cache is about 13km return from here. You will also climb over 400m in the process.

Mt Joyce escape recreation park offers many activities - check the link above for full range of facilities / activities. (related web page)

Mountain bikers are well catered for with many trails to play on - check this for a map of the trails :- (visit link)

For best mapping, click on the "Open Cycle Map" link on this page.

When placing this cache, I elected to walk, but you may take your bike most of the way - either way, make your way via one of the two main tracks to the waypoint coordinates below. Or, as I did, come up one track and down another to make a nice loop. Visit this link to see the route I took :- (visit link)

If you are on your bike, you will need to leave your bike at the trail head and engage 24" gear (2 feet) - it is about 1km to the cache from here.

There is no formed track from this waypoint to the cache, just a faint foot pad and red reflectors in the trees to guide you.
At the time of placement, the foot pad was difficult to see under the grass cover, but just follow the ridge and you can't go wrong.

Just before reaching the cache, you will be rewarded with great views to the SSW towards Mt Barney - closer to the cache, views to the NNW and Flinders peak can be had. Cache is an ammo can.

Enjoy.
