Carr Lane Halt Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Royal Oak: As the owner has not responded to my previous log requesting that they check this cache I am archiving it. It is not normal to unarchive a cache, which has been archived due to a lack of maintenance.

If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

Geocache Description:

This cache is located at the side of Carr Lane. It is a busy little road and some drivers can be fast. However, most do tend to slow down appropriately when they see people at the side of the road.

Please ensure that children and geopets are careful. Also, beware of nettles. My original choice of location was overgrown with them, hopefully this is a little better!

This cache marks (very nearly!) the location of 'Carr Lane Halt' on the old 'Garstang and Knott End Railway'. The exact location of the halt is near to the hump you can see if you look out of the village. The hump is all that remains of 'Carr Lane Crossing'.

Carr Lane Halt was opened in July 1921 and closed 31st March 1930 when passenger services ceased. The line continued to operate for goods trains to Knott End until 13th November 1950 and the line eventually closed 31st July 1963.

The cache itself is a small lock top container with room for swaps and trackables.

**CONGRATULATIONS** jarjarbinks04 for being FTF!
