Geocache Description:

This cache is a tribute to embi. It is located on the Tailem Bend to Karoonda road, which is a good bitumen road with a wide mallee vegetation corridor, and is maccamob's one hundred and thirty third cache. Our thanks to Froghoppin for agreeing to maintain the cache should that be needed when we are unavailable.

embi signed up with Groundspeak on 18 August 2001, found their first four caches three days later, and placed their first cache on 11 November 2001. Not surprisingly from these dates, embi was one of the first cachers in the Ballarat area, is the 8th longest running active cacher in Victoria, and in the earliest 30 by starting date nationally. Not prolific finders these days, their caching activity now usually revolves around Events and camping. In this regard, we have seen them upgrade progressively from a tent to (now) their second caravan, and from a sedan to a 4WD.

Among some notable firsts, embi co-sponsored the first geocaching Event in Victoria on 24th June 2002, which was attended by 11 teams. More significantly, embi became the first Australian Reviewer for Groundspeak in April 2003 and continued in that role until August 2009. embi was also an administrator on the first Australian geocaching Forum, founded by Pyrenees Kid, which was the forerunner of today’s Geocaching Australia Forum. Some of embi's caches (eg "Code Breaker" (GC8B5F) of 9 September 2002, and "Codelock" (GCA975) of 17 November 2002) also featured possibly the first use of computer and electronics technology in Australia.

Now known as the england’s, following a name change earlier this year, the family have developed a strong interest in aquaponics which has seen them win Wyndham Council’s sustainable gardening competition for the last two years. See this report, their blog and this thread for more information.
