ONLY remove the top rock to access the cache! NOT to be done at night. Parking available on the wide bend by the benches on the steep hill. Please take all necessary precautions when on or near the road. Please keep dogs on a lead due to livestock. You are looking for a small pot container able to take small swaps and trackables. Please bring your own pen to sign the logbook.
'Dam Steep Hill' marks the last of the Dam It Scenic Drive through series. From here you can continue to follow our Elan Mountain Road Series... finding no's 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 on the way back to Rhayader. Or if you turn left at the junction you can find our E Mt Rd Series no's 7-1 by travelling along the Aberystwyth Mountain road. Follow this road through Cwmystwyth to Devil's Bridge and then onto Aberystwyth. Free WiFi available at the Elan Valley visitor's centre. The River Elan rises on the hill of Geifas, south of the lead mining valley of Cwmystwyth. It flows through the wilderness of Mid Wales. After passing under the newly built road bridge of Pont Ar Elan it flows into the Craig Goch Reservoir, before it continues as a river, finally flowing into the River Wye. On the first Saturday in June, they hold the small Pont ar Elan Show down by the bridge. Mainly hunting dogs, hounds, lurchers and terriers but you can enter your dog in the Any other breed class! They hold dog races afterwards which our 2 geohounds love to take part in after the show ring! The original GZ was placed by the old bridge below by our friend Aspired but we had to move it up the hill when they built the new bridge.
