Geocache Description:

This is a series of 47 caches along the Kerry Ridgeway – a gentle 15 mile route from Cider House Farm near Kerry in Wales, across the border to Bishops Castle in Shropshire. It holds a long tradition as a trade and drovers’ route from Wales to the lowland English markets.

The route has been divided into four sections – all sections can be completed on foot, bike, or horse. Sections 2 and 4 can be done as a drive-by, but please be aware that the roads are narrow and not always in the best state of repair – watch out for potholes, especially if it has been raining. Drive carefully and be considerate where you park.

SECTION 1: Cider House to Block Wood (caches #1 - #11)

Parking either N52 27.278 W003 18.767 (Cider House
Car Park) or N52 28.075 W003 15.272 (Block Wood Car

SECTION 2: Kerry Pole to Long Plantation (caches #12 - #25)

en-route and in Bishops Castle.

LOWER SHORT DITCH

This is the third prehistoric earthwork across this ancient route, it's purpose yet again uncertain. To the right beyond the ditch and rough lane is Turbary Plantation. Turbury was the name given in the middle-ages to the right to dig for peat to use as fuel. Today the area is a nature reserve.

Final Co-ordinates = N52 G (B+J). E G (C-B) W003 A J. (J-I) (E+F) E
