The 15-minute World Wide Flash Mob Caching Event
This is a "Flash Mob" Gathering of Geocachers meeting for only 15 minutes and then dispersing to leave GZ as if nothing has happened.
This is part of the World Wide Flash Mob Event which is dozens of events all around the world, coordinated to happen at the same time to bring together geocachers and introduce others (newbies) to geocaching.
Event Time
The event will begin precisely at 10AM WST on June 9th, 2012.
I know this is not the exact same time as 10am on Saturday 9th June in San Diego California but that would be 1am on Sunday morning for us and that is unsociable - so our event is a NTZA event (non time zone adjusted event).
Theme
Silver Tops - The event is being held in the middle of a cluster of aluminium artwork. So wear a silver hat or fascinator -eg make an alfoil hat, cover an existing hat in alfoil or create a fashion statement fascinator. Use your imagination.
Event Time Line
9:45 - 9:59AM Cachers: Wait patiently in your automobile or stroll around the area.
STAY AWAY from ground zero! As much as you, can act like a muggle. Keep your silver top hidden.
There are plenty of benches and things to loiter by / look at close to GZ
9:59AM make your way toward the event coordinates, putting on your silver top as you arrive
10:00AM exactly (as determined by your GPS clock) we will place an ammocan for log sheets on a treslte near the coordinates along with large tubs for swag and trackable swaps. As you arrive, we'll hand you an official event "personal log sheet". Participants will sign the log sheets with the team name & number of team members (which will later become the log book) and drop them in the ammocan then mingle talk and swap.
Participants may trade swag via the swagbucket at any time and we encourage you to bring nice swag to trade as well as any trackables you may have.
10:02AM The event "meal" of jelly bellies will be available - help yourself.
10:05AM we will gather and take a group photo.
10:10AM we will draw a name from the pool of log sheets for the title of First to Find (which wins a Special Prize) and draw for the door prizes.
Prizes will include unactivated WWFM IX geocoins and tags as well as other donated items. (Further donations gratefully accepted)
10:15AM exactly the log sheets will be packed up and sealed away. Take your silver tops off and move totally away from the event area.
POST EVENT
Join us at the tables between the cinema and the restaurant to continue discussions and meet and greet other cachers. Bring a seat or a rug and stay a while.
We are hoping to get a number of caches around Mandurah published shortly after the event so you can make a day of it in and around Mandurah
IMPORTANT NOTES
1) There is a contingency if it is raining which will require a slight change of GZ - but this will be obvious on the day so just come no matter what the weather !!!
2) Wear your Silver Top! (and accessories) but remember to hide it till the start of the event.
3) To keep up with any news or changes – make sure to set a watch on this page so you’ll be notified via email. Check this cache page the morning of June 9th to confirm all information.
4) If any muggles are curious about the event we will have a volunteer hand out fliers that explain geocaching.
5) There is plenty of parking either in the Performing Arts car park or along the foreshore.
6) If you are coming from Perth by train, catch the foreshore shuttle to the Tourist Bureau, the event is a short walk from there.
7) GZ is wheelchair accessible
