Geocache Description:

A camo PBJ-Medium sitting in plain or plane sight, take your choice.

You may be able to park at Ron's place.

Be aware of a couple of ground hazards (gopher holes) on the approach to the cache once within about 10 feet of the cache location, especially on night approaches. Check landing lights on during night landings at the cache.

This geocache is another in my Aviation series located near Detroit Metro Airport.

STOL airports are designed for short take off and landing aircraft. This location falls short of the requirements. STOL aircraft are designed to land/take off in approximately 1500 feet over a 50 foot obstacle.

The common aircraft in passenger service to qualify would be the DHC 6 Twin Otter and the Dash 7 built by Dehavilland in Toronto, then purchased by Bombardier of Canada.

Bombardier is the builder of the Canadian CJR (Canadian Regional Jet) which is used extensively in U.S. commercial air service by many airlines on main line or regional services. The Dash 8 is also built by Bombardier and well used in North America in particular for regional services.

Neither the Dash 8 nor the CJR aircraft are STOL aircraft so head to Detroit Metro Airport from here if you wish to see them on the ground. If you look up, however, you have good odds of seeing an occasional Dash 8 and more often the CJR which frequents Detroit Metro often.
