Fernleigh Loop (originally Redhead Loop) Signal Box was cut out from November 1979 although the name lives on in a street of the nearby housing estate. Although predominantly for coal haulage, the first Passenger Rail service was in 1897 and the last was in 1971.
The photo shows the Signal Box on 21 October 1971, today only the supports for the stair landing are visible from the Fernleigh Track although there are other remains overgrown behind. Parking in Faul St. near S32° 57.157, E151° 42.980.
