Geocache Description:

3rd Edmonton "Purple Martins" Trefoil Guild

Welcome to the cache hidden during the Purple Martins' geocaching evening. It used to be a small lock 'n lock hidden filled with small purple swag in an evergreen (what else is new?) in a public park. Please remove the lid, not the cache.

... but now it's a pill bottle until I get a new container made.

What is the Trefoil Guild?

Trefoil Guild members are adults in Girl Guides of Canada over 30 years of age (in our case, most of us are much older, like in our 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s). It offers opportunities for camaraderie outside of the many other volunteer jobs we've done in Guiding over the years...and for many of us, volunteer jobs we are still doing. Betty Martin was a distinguished, early Guider in Edmonton. Our Guild was formed in the 'Betty Martin Division'....and purple is the national Trefoil Guild color. As we are a cohesive 'flock', many of whom fly south in the winter, we have become the "Purple Martins". On Tuesday, April 24th, 12 Trefoil Guild ladies learned a little about geocaching. After a quick bite at Tim Horton's across the street, we wandered over to place this cache which is full of small purple swag items. Then we went to the Mill Creek ravine and spent a lovely evening treasure hunting. While some of the gals are already geocachers (GeoGuider24, GeoGuider565 and One Smart Dog), for many it was their first experience. What a treat to see so many capable helpers and so many new keen geocachers.
