The series of geocaches at National Trust Tyntesfield are a new way for people to explore and engage with this beautiful estate. Focusing on wildlife and habitats, the geocaches are all accessible during opening times. Please note you will need to pay for admission to the grounds unless you are a National trust member, in which case you will need your membership card. Each geocache contains a log book for you to leave your name and comments, as well as information on the biodiversity of each location and a family-friendly activity to do. All geocaches are less than 5m from the public or permissive footpaths. Some may be camouflaged with twigs and leaves, so please replace this cover after you have finished with the geocache. *Please note that the Activity Cards and Information Cards belong to this Geocache and should not be removed. There may be other items that are left by fellow geocachers to be exchanged (e.g. small toys, usb cables) or moved on (geocache coins / travel bugs). As the geocaches are quite large (lunch box size) they are suitable for larger travel bugs* Things to be aware of when setting out to find our geocaches: 1. The public and permissive footpaths on the estate can be uneven, muddy and slippery in wet weather. Wellies or walking boots are recommended! 2. As with any woodland area, there are lots of roots and other trip hazards about – so watch where you put your feet. It is always advisable to stay out of wooded areas in high winds due to the risk of falling branches. 3. Keep an eye on young children as there are slopes and drop-offs close to the footpaths. 4. Please keep an eye out for stinging nettles, brambles and holly (for your own comfort!) and tread carefully to avoid trampling the woodland plants (e.g. bluebells in spring). 5. Some of the footpaths pass through fields, which at some times of year have livestock in them (sheep / young cows). Please close all gates behind you! 6. Parking is only available within the Tyntesfield estate when we are open to the public - everyday apart from Christmas Day. Some local parking is available (e.g. New Battleaxes Pub, Wraxall or on Wraxall Hill) but may be limited, especially on weekends. Access Information: The public footpaths are very uneven in places and may be slippery. There are also some moderate slopes and several stiles along the route. Good luck and be sure to let us know what you think in the log-books or at www.geocaching.com
