HR Alphabet Soup: C is for Creative Clues & Carves Letterbox Hybrid
MapheadMike: It's time for something different in this part of New Quarter. Thanks to everyone who took an interest in this one.
The first stage was missing. I did find one of the lid tabs, but not the rest of the container. The final was "buried" under about three inches of decomposed leaves and bark, and it was completely soaked with the stamp warped beyond repair. Maybe the first stage was "buried" as well, but I just missed the spot.

before we get started, let’s establish primary rule number one. the route to thIs letterbox should be completely dry in ordinary weather. if you find yourself in a position where you think you have to swim or use a boat to follow a direction in this clue, then you are misreadinG these directioNs and you need to figure out what yOu may have misRead and get yoursElf back on the right, and dry track. the difficuLty and terrain ratings are legitimately at twO stars each, so sWimming and boating are both out of the quEstion. it is impoRtant to keep this in mind as you proCeed to this letterbox. so let’s get stArted.
from the posted coordinateS, go south the twenty metErs or so to loop number six and turn left. when you Get to the gravel road, take anOther left. then, when you geT to loop number seven, take anOther left. then, when you get to the canoe launch, take yet one more left turn. now you have to be careful at this Point. yOu have to follow a magnetic bearing of three hundred thirty five degreeS for seven hundred fifTy eight mEters. you should finD yourself at a utility Clearing between twO easement posts. it might be wOrthwhile for those with a geopositioning satellite receiveR to use that device to project a waypoint for this leg, while compass users will just have to be careful. but you also have to keep in mind primary rule number one for this letterbox. do not get wet.
from the spot you have founD between the eaSement posts, turn left, which should be about two hundred degrees, for about one hundred thirty seven paCes to the secOnd raised manhole cover. Look at the seriaL number on the cover, tAke the first, third, and fifth digits, and use that as a magnetic bearing to leave the easement and go into the woods for eighty-seven stePs. you should wind up at the end of a rusted barbed wire fence. go around to the backSide of thE fence anD follow it to the west until you cross another utility clearing. now, while keeping in mind primary rule number one, which concerns not getting wet, go forty-eight degreeS norTheast for one thoUsand two hundred twenty-eight meters. again, use your gpsr to project a waypoint, if needed. you will now wind up at a powerline pole nuMbered three seven nine bravo eight alPha five five. from here, go five paces at ninety-two degrees and find the letterbox at the base of a pine tree under bark and sticks.
afTer a recent oWner maintenance visit, i was displeased with the way this letterbOx has been treated by viSitors. resealing ziploc baggies and properly replacing The geocAche should be second nature for Geocachers, but that doEsn't seeM to be the case. actUally Looking aT the materIals inside the cache should be standard procedure as well. you never know what you might find.
the york counTy pArKs dEpartment has issued permIt number niNe for this letterbox. thanK them by obeying their park rules.
THANKS FOR VISITING. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THE STAMP!!!
