This cache is just off a nice dirt bicycle trail in Folsom Lake State Park. It is near the remains of an old house that would have had a view of the American River and the town of Morman Island before Folsom Lake covered it in 1955. There is still a nice view of Folsom Lake.
For no fee access to the Park, park on Sophia Pkwy at Green Valley Rd and walk up the gravel road to the North. Take the trail to the right for about 30 minutes. The trail goes through wooded areas and has nice views of the Lake. Bring a lunch or a snack and enjoy the area. In wet weather, it will get muddy but is passable.
A shorter trail of about 15 minutes is available from the Browns Ravine Marina but it is in a fee area. The trail goes toward the West beginning near the entrance off Green Valley Road. Free parking may be available across Green Valley Road.
Both routes can be covered very quickly by bicycle. Even though this cache requires a bit of a walk, the trail is beautiful and GZ is a nice location. This is really an easy find. Watch for the usual outdoor critters. There is no PO.
Congratulations to Wiisters for FTF on a rainy night.
