Kate Pace Way - La Vase River Crossing Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

ProspectorPete: Did a cache run to check condition of my KPW caches prior to winter. Archived this cache as it keeps moving, was found open again and is not winter friendly. After checking the rest of the caches, I decided to archive them also, as several were damaged , had been moved away from original hiding spots, and most were not winter friendly. It would be nice to make all of the caches along the trail winter friendly, and I think it's time for some different types of caches along the trail anyway. If someone else would like to place new caches along the trail, go right ahead. Hope everyone who checked out my caches over the last two years enjoyed their cache trek along the Kate Pace Way.

Geocache Description:

The La Vase River and a series of portages between Lake Nipissing and Trout Lake were used by First Nations people for thousands of years before they guided Etienne Brule and Samuel de Champlain along this route in the early 1600's. Stand on the bridge and take a minute to reflect on the great history of this little river. Who knows, perhaps Etienne or Sam once stood on the nearby riverbank.

The cache is a medium size camo lock'n lock container containing log book, writing instruments and tradable treasures.

The cache is close to the paved trail, but watch your footing!
