Franklin is a small, unincorporated community on the eastern edge of Kansas. The cache is close to a building that has its own parking lot. It is located on the historic Jefferson Highway.
This cache recognizes the Miners Hall Museum (MHM), and it salutes the Smithsonian Traveling Exhibit “The Way We Worked” hosted by the MHM May 11 – June 23, 2013, with a commemorative wooden coin. Located in Franklin, Kansas, which was ravaged by an F4 tornado on May 4, 2003. The site rests on the grounds of the original miners’ union hall where the historic Amazon Army assembled to march in support of striking miners in December of 1921.
