Tri-Cities Geocoin Challenge 2012
“Trekking the Trails”

 

Fact #3:
The earliest landowners and founders of this city were W.R. Amon and
his son Howard. They purchased 2,300 acres of land to build a town on the
northern bank of the Yakima River. Postal authorities approved the town of Richland
in 1905. It was registered the following year at the Benton County Courthouse
and was incorporated as a Washington Fourth Class City in April 1910.
