Miraculously, I managed to get the first-to-find on the Periodic Table of the Elements Challenge. I owe a great debt to all the cachers who have hidden caches with names containing elements, so I thought I could add to my karma by hiding a few more of my own.
When I think of iodine, the first thing that comes to mind is the Simpsons Halloween episode where Milhouse gets spooked by Bart and decides to sit next to Üter, the German exchange student, who offers Milhouse a bite of his Vengelerstrasse bar, as well as a marzipan JoyJoy:

This is the conundrum of modern society. You have a pretty important element like iodine. Iodine is required by many animals, which use it to synthesize thyroid hormones. We'd all have goiters if it weren't for iodine. It's used as a disinfectant. It makes salt delicious. Yet all I can remember is this silly little throwaway joke from a 20-year-old Simpsons episode. Pop culture vs. the advancement of society.

Anyway, Üter says: "Dis ist eine güte Kache, ja?! Du müssen die Kache finden!"
NOTES ABOUT THE HIDE
I realize another cache called Iodine was recently published, but I'd already written this description and didn't want it to go to waste. Also, when I hid this cache, I noticed that one or more people had pitched several rather elaborate tents a few hundred feet from ground zero. I have no idea if these are the sort of people who would be very interesting to talk to, or if they are the sort who it would be better to avoid. Use your discretion. Here's a photo of the tent city:

Finally, when I hid the cache, I took lots of waypoint averages, but my GPS batteries died soon after. Hopefully, the low batteries didn't impact the accuracy of the reading. In the event it did, I'll include a somewhat specific location hint.
