Second in a series of places that remind me of home.
This is the second cache placement for me at a place that reminds me of Southern California, where I grew up. And oddly enough, this place was also not one of my favorites - in fact, they didn't make it into my immediate area until sometime after I left college.
My first experience of an In and Out was after a group of us had gone to a multi-plex drive-in somewhere in the San Fernando Valley (yes, that Valley) to see Purple Rain as part of a double feature. Yes, that totally dates me. I was pretty bored with the movie, so I remember watching some of the other movies playing on other screens, although I couldn't hear the sound. I do know that one of the movies was Fast Times at Ridgemont High, and another was one of the popular slasher flicks - either Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street, I'm not sure which. Anyway, after standing around at this drive-in for hours watching really bad movies, we all went to In and Out for burgers before heading out of the Valley and back home. Honestly, I didn't get the hype at the time, as there were other burger joints with larger menus that were much closer to me.
When I moved away from California, though, I would have been happy for an In and Out within 100 miles of me, but the nearest one we knew of was in Las Vegas. There's an amusing story about that, but it's not my story.
Congratulations to AC/DCfamily, kperry1911, fijicat, kedge, and txflood on what sounded like a pretty cool FTF party!
