Boats tied up at this pier thirty years ago...This sand bar has formed since the Cape Island Causeway was constructed in 1949...Because of the causeway , Sand Hills across the bay , has lost much sand ending up here forming a very large sandbar and growing in size yearly...The pier was constructed by Wm. Smith of Centreville, C.S.I.. Divers using cement in crocus bags were used to set the base for a possible bridge to the Island
