Not trying to steel anyones idea of doing a series of Silos but I lived in this area and thought I would share this one with you.
This square fieldstone silo is unique to the St.Nazianz area on Christel Road, just southeast of the village. The silo was built in 1933 by Bill Christel and some of his friends when he (Bill) was 28 years old. A neighbor, John Meyer, wanted to clean up a stone fence to put up a wire fence, so Bill hauled the large stones from that fence and got the rest of the stones from differrent locations on his 260 acre farm. He hauled enough stones each night to keep construction going for the next day. The construction was started in early spring and completed in the fall in time to store a crop of corn. Total height of the inside of the silo is 60 feet. The large stones were split and chipped on the ground, although some chipping had to be done as the stones were fitted into place. The walls are 2 feet thick and are 48 inches in the corners from tip to center. All of this work was done after the regular farm chores were finished, a total of 5 people were involved with this construction and not one accident occured during it.
Onto the cache now. Take the North coordinates the last 5 and add the house number or blue sign (same number) that is directly north of the silo, take that sum and subtract 16.288 to get N44 _ _ ._ _ _ Then take the West coordinates the last 5 again, and add the house number. Take the sum and subtract 16.644 to get W087 _ _._ _ _
Thats' it go for the final. Bye the way take a picture if you have the camera and please get the number off the house directly north of the silo and go East down the road to do your math problems. This is a heavy traveled road and you don't want to be questioned by others into what the heck your doing here in the Sticks. Enjoy your stop, and ya all come back......YEEE Haaaaa FTF goes to TNT even if he was a bit slow out of the gate at least he got the numbers right....LOL
