Geocache Description:

Ballypatrick Forest Park is probably the largest forest park in Antrim and is on the A2 between Cushendall and Ballycastle. It has the longest marked drive of any forest in Northern Ireland.

Cache is located on a little island in a pond next to a quiet picnic area along the drive in Ballypatrick forest. It is part of the small tributary river that flows through here on its way to the Shesk river. You will need to get to the island and that requires wading. I suggest chest high waders. Water is approximately 1 metre deep unless you are of a heavy build and might sink deeper into the bottom!

In warm weather waders would not be necessary but a towel will be required. There may be other people about so be discreet if you are thinking of stripping off! Bermudas or a bikini will be a good idea in this instance.

In winter, waders are necessary unless you are very brave or a masochist!

Cross at the narrowest part which is at the back of the island when viewed from the car park. Do not attempt this from the front or the weir as the water here will be much deeper. Enter the water slowly and do not rush. The bottom here is soft so shoes are not necessary. This is definitely not one for the kids due to the depth of the water

Cache is a medium round tab lock container with a log book, pencils and a few swap items.
