Ray Greene Park:

Ray Greene Park is located in the Highlands section of north Jacksonville. The park opened in 1957, and quadrupled in size with the addition of 30 acres in 1976-77. It is named for former Duval County Commissioner C. Ray Greene Sr. (1892-1964), who served continuously from 1934 to 1962. A pharmacist who lived in Brentwood and operated the Brentwood Pharmacy, he said that his greatest satisfaction from public service was his work to prevent juvenile delinquency. An off-road bicycle course was built at the park in the early 1980’s, a major renovation completed in 1999, and a 2004 renovation includes two new soccer fields, two restroom/concession buildings, and two basketball courts, along with road paving, landscaping, and parking for 257 cars. Completed in 2007 is the addition of a restroom building that services the tennis courts and the playgrounds area.

Have fun and Enjoy your time in the park!!

Letterbox Instructions:

The posted coordinates will bring you directly into the center of fun in Ray Greene Park. The Friends of Jax Parks really had a "ball"at this location. Staying on the pavement proceed North for ~80'. Turn right and follow the green row of objects for 280' to their end. Turn left, look both ways, and cross the street. Immediately, turn right, look both ways, and cross the street again. From the end of the crosswalk head NorthEast for 160' to the NE corner of the large wooded island. Continued heading NorthEast for 30' to the approximate center on the East side of the small wooded island. From here proceed 20' directly East into the woodline. You will be searching for a small screw top container hidden between a straight line of 3 pine trees. Please make sure to rehide the cache completely out of sight to prevent discovery from muggles.

Good Luck & Happy Caching!
