Albertushof is een voormalige boerderij die bij het klooster Mariadal hoorde in het Venlose buurtschap ‘t Ven. Oorspronkelijk was Albertushof, ook wel Hendrikkenhof genoemd, een negentiende eeuwse boerderij. De boerderij werd omstreeks 1905 door de paters Dominicanen gekocht als buitenverblijf voor hun studenten. In 1939 werd er het missiehuis van de Zusters Dominicanessen in ondergebracht. Op dit terrein ligt ook de Lourdesgrot met in de nis geplaatst een beeld van Onze Lieve Vrouw van Lourdes. De grot is in 1948 uit dankbaarheid gebouwd door de onderduikers en evacués die in de oorlogsjaren in het klooster verbleven en allen de oorlog overleefden. Heden ten dage is er in het klooster ook een slaapplaats voor pelgrims van Santiago de Compostella. Rond Pinksteren 2009 stortte de bekende Lourdesgrot van de Zusters van Albertushof in en het Mariabeeld werd onherstelbaar verwoest. Mede dankzij een financiële bijdrage uit de Voucher-regeling is deze historische grot opnieuw opgebouwd. Bij het opruimen van de brokstukken vond men een glazen buisje met daarin briefjes die bij het bouwen van de grot in 1948 zijn ingemetseld in het vertrouwen dat Maria deze handgeschreven gebeden, verzoeken, intenties en wensen verhoorde. “Lieve Moeder Maria, Gij die zoveel zieke mensen beter maakt in Lourdes, maak ook weer de mensen van de gehele wereld beter.” Deze bede aan Maria was te lezen op een van de briefjes die werden gevonden, en ik denk dat dit nu nog van toepassing is!
Albertushof is a former farmhouse at the monastery Mariadal, heard in the Venlo hamlet 't Ven. Originally was Albertushof, also called Hendrikkenhof, a nineteenth century farm. The farm was built about 1905 through the Dominican Fathers, bought as a retreat for their students. In 1939 it was the Missionary-home of the Dominican nuns. In this area is also the Lourdes cave with the statue “Onze Lieve Vrouw van Lourdes / Mary, Our Lady of Lourdes” placed in the niche of the cave. The cave was built in 1948 in gratitude by the people in hiding and evacuees during the war years in the monastery and stayed all survived the war. Today there is also a place to sleep in the monastery for pilgrims of Santiago de Compostela. At Whitsun 2009 collapsed the famous Lourdes Cave of the Nuns of Albertushof and the statue of Mary was irreparably destroyed. Thanks to a financial contribution from the Voucher Scheme, is this historic cave rebuilt. When cleaning up the debris they found a glass tube containing notes that when building the cave in 1948, immured in the confidence that Mary the handwritten prayers, requests, intentions and desires heard. "Dear Mother, You, who makes so many sick people better in Lourdes, make again the people of the world better." This prayer to Mary was reading on one of the notes that were found, and I think this still applies!
