You are looking for an ammo tin hidden, quite appropriately, by a bit of green "woods" near the Real Canadian Super Store in Kanata. When placed it was filled with all sorts of goodies with a red maple leaf design on them.. In order to keep the contents safe from muggles a tumbler-type padlock is keeping the ammo tin locked. The code for it is 44-16-47, and it's the normal method of opening it - don't leave home without it! Hopefully, since the contents were muggled, someday I get to refilling it.
There is a Canadian micro coin for the first well-travelled Platinum logger and a "first to find" ammo tin pin for the first logger in general.
While on summer vacation in 2011, as we were driving to the Maritimes, my mom and I passed through several of Canada's provinces' capital cities. That gave me the idea for this challenge cache as we made a point of stopping in each one to find a cache.
As with all Challenge caches the treasure can be found at the posted co-ordinates HOWEVER to log the find and claim your you need to have met at least the Bronze level of the following geocaching criteria:
Platinum: you have logged a cache in each of Canada's provinces' and territories' capitals AND one in the Nation's capital.
Canadian Polar Diamond: you have logged a cache in each of Canada's provinces' and territories' capitals.
Gold: you have logged a cache in each of Canada's 10 provinces' capitals OR in any 5 provinces' capitals and each of Canada's 3 territories' capitals.
Silver: you have logged a cache in two of the sets as defined in the Bronze level.
Bronze: you have logged a cache in the capital of each province/territory as listed in ONE of the following sets of provinces and territories:
Atlantic Islands set: Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador;
Maritimes Mainland set: Nova Scotia and New Brunswick;
Eastern Set: Quebec and Ontario;
Mid-Western set: Manitoba and Saskatchewan;
Western set: Alberta and British Columbia; and the
Territories set: Yukon, North West Territories and Nunavut.
Please list the GC codes of the qualifying caches in your log/notes. This cache cannot count as your "Nation's Capital" cache. There are no date restrictions nor type - but one, "event caches". i.e. Qualifying caches can be of any type (puzzle, traditional, virtual, earth etc.) except event. To qualify as being "in the capital" the cache must be within 30km of the city, and in the same province as the city, when searching GC.com via the city name and province/territory in the address field of the search facility at the top of the Hide & Seek page.
Feel free to come back and drop a note as you achieve each subsequent level - unless you've already reached the Platinum level.
Happy travels
