History:
In 1914 a sequence for the silent film Juggernaut was filmed at Duck's Nest Pond, now part of Bailey Park in Sayreville. The crash sequence consisted of an engine and three cars filled with dummies that plunged off the end of an end temporary trestle.

In order to capture the event on film, a stand was built in the pond for the cameraman to film the sequence. Almost two thousands spectators watch as the train wreck and filming of the scene. The train came down the mainline and switched off onto the 300ft long trestle at 50 mph. At the key moment, dynamite shattered the trestle and the train dove into the pond. When train went into the water, the waves from the impact almost knocked the cameraman off his stand.
Several months after the filming of the Juggernaut, dummies used in the crash were popping up around town. For 24 years, the Juggernaut sat at the bottom of Duck Nest Pond. In 1938 a Perth Amboy scrap company fetched the wreck.
