Geocache Description:

Hard to believe now, but this township and surrounding area, once boasted 3 footy teams.
This was never a very profitable mine and after several different owners production ceased in 1909. At 600 feet digging stopped when local farmers complained vigorously about the saline water being pumped into the creeks.
Lateral tunnels extend in a westerly direction for several kilometres and they can be seen in some of the paddocks where the roof has collapsed.
Some of the older homes in Wedderburn were moved to their present location from Nine Mile township, when the mine closed.
Needless to say, being an old mine site, there is the potential to fall down deep holes. So keep granny and the kids on a tight rein.
You will be looking for a container of about a litre capacity with log, swaps and a pen.
