This Geocache is located at the site of the Winnipeg Gliding Club.
The Winnipeg Gliding Club operates from Apr to Nov, mostly on weekends some weekdays and evenings during the best soaring days of summer.
It is recommended to come by around 1 PM on any good weather weekend day in order to witness the launch of the club gliders. On most soaring days, the gliders take-off at 1pm and do not return to land until 7 or 8PM.
Finding this cache should be quite easy. Getting to the Starbuck Airfield may be a little more daunting, depending on the route you take.... If you are not into 4x4'ing, you should follow highway 2 to Allinson Road, directly north of the Starbuck Airfield and drive straight south until you see gliders.
You are welcome to use the Gliding Club parking area near the cache coordinates. There is no need to use stealth trying to find this geocache. The club members know there is one located on the property.
The cache container is an Ammo Can, containing log book, pens, some Gliding paraphernalia, stickers, etc...

Geocaching Pilots: --- Refer to Canada Flight Supplement ---Airfield Frequency 123.4 - Right hand circuits for powered aircraft (Left for Gliders). Obtain prior permission from the club to land at Starbuck.
YOU ARE NEAR AN ACTIVE UNCONTROLLED AIRFIELD!!!
You are welcome to see what we do, but safety is our primary concern. While in the parking lot, you are safely away from the aircraft and runways and do not have to worry about aircraft traffic.
DO NOT drive past the parking lot towards the aircraft parking area
DO NOT drive onto the runways
DO NOT walk on the runways without an escort.
DO NOT enter the property beyond the parking lot if the club is not in operation. Of course, you can move around to look for the cache site.
DO have your pets properly restrained (Canadian Air Regulations)
For everyone's safety, please DO NOT smoke anywhere on the property
If you wish to come have a closer view of our gliders:
DO walk to the club house and see if a club member can escort you to the launch point. If no one is present, please call us at the launch point: 735-2868 and someone will come down to welcome you and escort you.
