Night Mystery at 9000 ft Mystery Cache

Night cache placed for 2012 Picnic in the Pines Event.
Elmer and I were out stalking wild turkeys at night in the Sandias when we came across this man lying on the ground at this very spot. He looked disoriented and smelled like my Aunt Millie's "rheumatiz medicine."
He rolled his head over and looked right at me and said "Rosebud..." or maybe it was "Roast Beef" or "Rot gut", couldn't rightly tell since his words were all garbled like. Anyway, Elmer was looking around with his flashlight and said he spotted a small light in the distance and went to go look.
A couple of minutes later Elmer shouted "Come look, there is another one..." Well, we followed this "trail" of little lights (looked like tiny reflectors to me) until we came across this odd container just hidden away out in the woods. Just some little doodads and an empty sheet of paper were in the container.
Elmer said it was left by aliens as some sort of marker / rescue kit, but that is Elmer's explanation for everything since the "probe" incident. Anyway, we re-hid the container and walked away since I think this all has to do with some government plot to catch turkey stalkers.
When we got back to the starting point the man was gone, so we may never know the real truth behind this. Maybe you can unravel this odd odd mystery...
